If you're a reggae & dub addict like me with an OCD for Amazon bargains, then a Blood & Fire sampler for just pennies is too good to resist! Hucknall has of course mined the reggae vaults for great reggae songs to sprinkle fine cover versions amidst his own Simply Red albums, my fave cover being Bunny Wailer's 'Love Fire'.

The Run It Red CD is packed with vocal and instrumental delights and is as good a reggae sampler as you can get. King Tubby and Prince Jammy weild the controls in those sultry steamy studios on many of the tracks, the heavy heady atmosphere comin' through strong! With classic Jackie Mittoo keyboards, sweet Horace Andy vocals, the smooth 'Cool Ruler' Gregory Isaacs and legendary Big Youth hollerin too, you can't go wrong; then there's the torrential 7-minute slab of Sylford Walker's 'Dueteronomy' as well.

A great sampler and all respect to the crew at Blood & Fire for unearthing and presenting such great and timeless reggae, during their glorious periods of re-releasing the best of Jamaican music on CD for us.
